We’re a Texas mom-and-daughter travel blog covering family travel with young kids to unusual, ambitious destinations — the ones most “family travel” blogs skip.

It started with road trips and state parks. Then national parks. Then UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Then we crossed a few international borders and somehow ended up sleeping in a Great Wall of China watchtower with a six-year-old who has been traveling since before she could walk.

She runs ahead on the trail. I carry the bag and write it all down — what worked, what didn’t, and what’s actually worth your time.

We’ve been traveling together since she was small enough to fit in a hiking pack. We hiked Jinshanling and slept inside a Great Wall watchtower. We dressed in Ming dynasty Hanfu inside an ancient Beijing temple. We stood at the edge of the Avatar mountains in Zhangjiajie. We dog-sledded on a glacier in Alaska and crossed into Mexico from Big Bend. We’ve explored the Philippines, India, Japan, Puerto Rico, and Honduras — and we’re not done.
